Differential for the F1?

OpenRC Q&ACategory: Formula 1Differential for the F1?
Tor asked 3 years ago

I love the F1 car and the simplicity of the design however with 3D printed tires and no diff, traction is nowhere to be seen. Is anyone working on perhaps splitting the rear axle and adding a differential?

Hey Tor,

there´s actually already a working differential available designed by Tor Arne Hustvedt and it´s quite clever. It uses the existing rear axle already in the car.

Except for the differential you need to print a nother front wheel and get two more bearings for that wheel.

The differential files and instructions can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2361718

If you want to use low profile wheel by Palmiga, he´s got rims compatible with the diff aswell: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2716222
